Liver fibrosis assessment in metabolic syndrome

If someone has metabolic syndrome, is it important to have a fibrosis scan to monitor liver fat? What are your thoughts?

A fibrosis scan (vibration-controlled transient elastography, e.g., FibroScan) is a reasonable and low-risk test for someone with metabolic syndrome, but guidelines do not recommend it as the first step—the standard approach starts with a simple blood-based FIB-4 index, and elastography is added only when FIB-4 is indeterminate or elevated. So please ask your doctor to do the Fib 4 index first which is very simple calculation. And that shows if you have high number , then the scan will be recommended.
