Diabetes screening A1C thresholds for South Asians

Standard A1C thresholds define pre-diabetes as 5.7–6.4% and diabetes as ≥6.5%. I was recently informed that South Asians face elevated risks of diabetes and cardiovascular complications at lower A1C levels. Are there specific guidelines or adjusted thresholds recommended for South Asians? If not, what should we target?

Targets are the SAME. What is adjusted for South Asians is mainly the screening threshold, not the A1C threshold. ADA recommends considering diabetes/prediabetes testing in adults with overweight or obesity at BMI ≥25 kg/m², but at BMI ≥23 kg/m² for people of Asian ancestry/
